How many emails are in your inbox right now? 50? 100? More?
 
Unless your subscribers are the Inbox Zero type, they’ll have the same.
 
Every email you send is competing for attention. Competing to be opened.
 
So what can you do?
 
Intriguing subject lines? Yeah, they help . . . sometimes. 
 
But it’s the from line that really counts.
 
If you’re not known for sending relevant, relatable emails that deliver real value, they won’t be opened regularly. 
 
And that unsubscribe button will be calling . . .
 
when they do open an email to see it. 
 
Otherwise it’s just delete, delete, delete . . .
 
dragging down your sender reputation score along the way. 
 
And if they are Inbox Zero folks? You really need to earn a place in their tidy space! (“Unsubscribe” is a way of life for them.)
 
That’s why I put on the subscriber’s shoes when planning email strategy and copy. 
 
It’s about finding the middle ground between what you want to send and what they want to receive.
